Hi there.

I was wondering if anyone was aware of exactly what I need and need to do, in order for me to record videos of what is displayed on my TV from my Xbox. Basically record videos of xbox games. I have read about capture cards but I am unsure of what I will need to do in order to acomplish this.

Thank you very much in advance to anyone with help to offer.

-Mike

I would get the Happagen TV capture card.
It is rated as the best and is Linux compatable too.
All you do is plug card into PC, install software then
connect xbox video to card, run software it pops up a TV screen and you\
can watch TV or xbox on you computer screen as you play games, then just click REC and it will record whatever you are watching, say you playing a game.
The card can be gotten for under $100 now, check online.

Ok thanks I'll have a look around. I'm in the UK, so I'll check on eBay or something as I can't order from that site. Also I heard I may need a splitter? I also should have mentioned that I prefer USB than PCI, because I don't have too many PCI ones left, but if USB is not possible, then I'll stick with PCI.

Thanks a lot.

Then I would look for the ATI All in one usb TV tuner.
I had one, they are great! you can record TV with it and
it just plugs into a usb port, easy install.

I has Cable in put and S-video input.

Not sure about europe standards as I know you guys use PAL instead of
NTSC like us so you may have to look on ATI's website to see if the software can do PAL.. I know I'v seen the option in some video capture cards and I think the old Happagen usb TV capture device supported it.
Happagen is a german company so I know they make PAL compatable usb Tv devices, check out thier web site too.

Hope I helped!
