I'm not sure if this is the right thread it could be an advanced problem.... but ill try it here any ways.

So about 5 months ago i was on here complaining that when i re flashed my dvd rom it froze half way threw and after that it was shot.

well i later realized the problem didint need new firmware, no the problem seemed to be with somthing else... i just bought a new lg dvd burner and the same problem is occouring whcih casued me to re install my firmware. Now being that this is a bran drive and i just put it in im assumeing this is defently a software problem.

When i instert a disk it tells me its a blank cd when its really an actual cd/ dvd with information on it, and when i insert a blank disk it dosent even detect it.

now i re installed windows before when the other burner was acting up and that was usless, what else can i do?

When you run the disc through a disc identifying program what does it say and have you tryed burning anyway or does it just not allow you.

Check your IDE cable on both your mother board and the drive itself. You still may consider swapping the cable out with anew one, just to eliminate hardware communication problems as the source of your woes.
