I followed the guide for dvd2vcd using smartripper,dvd2avi, and Tmpgenc, everything went fine. I backed up 2 movies successfully. Then the next two movies i encoded work fine until i try to cut the mpeg so it will fit on two cds. The first part of the file works fine, then when i try to produce the second part the video stream just says seeking evolrip(the name of the mpeg) nothing happens. what am i doing wrong.

This happens in mine sometime and sometimes it crashes.
But just wait for it it is trying to find the part in the movie your trying to cut. Also dont run any programs in the background. sometimes it takes a while like 2 minutes.

thanks Dela, seems like everytime i post u always have an answer. i appreciate your time. Yet i wish i could pick ur brain a bit. is there anyway to create a vcd with playback comparible to the quality of divx or dvd. I have successfully created many vcds, but the quality is slightly better than a new vhs tape. Can i get better quality and still watch in my dvd player?

Okay i succeeded in createing my first svcd. I used the guide from here using tmpgenc. The video much clearer now and no audio problems, but every once in a while when theres alot of close up movement i get small horizontal lines in the video. Did i do something wrong? Can i fix this? got any ideas Dela?

I think this is more of a TMPGEnc problem to be honest I used to see that too on playback!!

okay, no problem i can't really see it on my tv mostly just on my monitor so no big deal. Also would u recommend purchaseing the mpeg2 encoderer for tmpgenc(after the trial runs out) or is there a better progam u would recommend spending my hard earned dollars. Being a mechanic usually means not haveing many dollars to spend anyway. LOL

well my lowrider usually drinks most of my spare cash, but maybe i could hold some back for a better program. I just hate paying for software, if it cost me money and doesn't meet my expectations it can be disappointing. Yet freeware that acts up or isn't that great doesn't hurt as bad cause all im out is download time. Ne way thanks for all ur help. Most of my vcds r turning out fine so im satisfied for the meantime. agian thank u and im sure well speak again.
