Hey Guys,
I am finally starting to run out of blank dvd cases, and I am stuck between two options. One is from supermediastore and the others are Amaray cases (the industry standard).
Heres the Amaray cases:

http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPla...
Here's the supermediastore cases:

http://www.supermediastore.com/dvd-case-14mm-black-single-premium...

based on what ever specs you can gather let me know which one you think I should go with. I was thinking that maybe I should go with the cheaper ones because it's half the price of the Amaray's when you're buying 100.

P.S. Also let me know if you think these would be very durable as opposed to others; with that low of a price I'm kinda weary.
Also, right now I'm finishing up using some crappy Memorex cases ( i hate 'em) w/ some weird center buttons. They work 'okay'; but when I saw the center buttons on these I thought they looked pretty good....let me know.....

Oh yeah, I also need to get another 96 capacity dvd binder (I like those cause they aren't so honkin' big) and was wondering if you can reccomend any of those to me if you've found any good ones.
Thanx,
Jake

Quite frankly I keep my recorded DVD in slim CD cases. I dont like DVD cases since they take too much space and some of them have damaged the inner (hole) part of the disc.

If I always hear voices surrounding me, does it mean Im crazy or that I hear in Dolby 5.1?

I DONT WANT slim cd cases, though. If you paid attention to my post; I was NOT talking about slim cases, just the normal size DVD packaging. So, now that you're hearing me out, could you give an opinion on the above stated?

NO NEED TO YELL!!!Now that we understand each other let's see...I still have some unused DVD cases that look like the ones Super Media Store sells. The reason they are unused is I discovered the center (holding piece) was deforming the DVD hole. I'd go for the other one. Bear in mind that although the desing is probably the same, maybe they are not made by the same manufacturer. I'm just prejudiced. That's why I use Slim CD cases for my DVD's. Also because I use the various colors as a classification sytem. Boy that OCD is really kicking in. LOL.

sorry man:(; it's just that too many times I've posted here and people response that isn't necessarily relevant to what I'm discussing......I guess this time I just happened to crack.

Anyway, back on subject; so ur saying I should go with the Amaray DVD Cases?

Like I said before, the other messed up a bit my DVD's, but maybe you'll be fine with it. Chances are they are not made by the same manufacturer. I'm leaning towards the Amaray not because they are great. I have never used them. It's just I'm kinda prejudiced against the other one.

I've seen your name in the dumpster diving thread before.
You don't go for the free cases?
I haven't had to buy any in quite a while, and still have enough to last quite a while longer.............

@JVC

Well my man, you are right about seeing me in the dumpster diving threads; but I went to the nearest Blockbuster a while ago and it turns out that they keep all of their trash cans & dumpsters away in a locked up area, so it makes it really hard to make a quick escape if someone would happen to be watching me.......that's why I don't get the free cases. Otherwise, I'd totally go for them and get 'DVD Cases For Life!' *lol*
so, with that making my 'connections' for cases locally very limited, I was thinking that I should just order some Amaray at bulk pricing and say that's as good as it'll get for me._._._.

P.S. Also, I am thinking about ordering these just because of the fact that in my area, 10 DVD Cases go for at least 7 or 8 bucks, then if you go to BB you'll see some Dynex for 10; which I just refuse to pay that much for 10 cases; so I think these Amaray's are my best bet? what's your take on this JVC?

If that's what you gotta do, that's what you gotta do. I've bought a few before, but these original cases beat the ones you buy, in quality.
Too bad you can't get the free ones. Only one Blockbuster in your town?
Do you get to any other towns, at any time? Just ask the manager at Blockbuster to let you have some, that he/she would normally throw away. Tell him/her you buy a lot at pawn shops, and the cases are messed up sometimes. Tell him/her you'll give some to friends that do the same, if you can get enough. If they're throwing them away, they shouldn't mind. Don't tell him/her you back any up.............

The manager at Blockbuster here, recently gave me about 30. He said he'd save me some doubles. I told him I needed doubles the most, right now. So, if you can't dive, just ask. All he/she can do is say no.
Good luck.

BTW...........
The diving thread is open again, if you want to keep up with everyone's exploits. It's been renamed and moved. It's called "dumpster diving" now, and resides in the "All other topics" forum. I PM'd herbsman, and asked him to reopen it, and he did. Check it out.

JVC,
The next time I hit the Blockbuster I'll try to conjure up enough guts to just ask them flat out about cases--thanx for the tip man......I guess I just gotta ask myself: what's the worst that could happen?

P.S. And yes, I'll probably get some Amaray's while I'm at it too, because that's the only blockbuster in the area and w/ the price of gas these days:( , no one wants to drive too far, and we rarely go down their that often;;;--the place I rent from more is like hollywood video which is like half the drive....

Anyway; thanx for the tip on the dumpster diving thread!:); I'll definitely check it out..:p)

I bought the ones from supermediastore. I went with the singles, but I am ready to get some new ones, and I will likely get the doubles. It is surprizing to me how many times I ran into a situation where a double would be nice. I believe the doubles were the same price too. Shame, I bought them for $.14 apiece not long ago, now they are $.19. Anyways, the quality is really pretty nice, I have had no issues with them yet.

The ones you have linked supermedia store are good. The other grade they have are very flimsy.

Meritline has a good quality cases too. I would shop between the both for best prices.

hey man,

i know its cool to get cases for every DVD you own( i was there once), but as your collection grows you will hate them... unless you have unlimited bookself space. DO your self a favor and get a 500 or 1000 DVD case now and save the trouble of many dvd cases.
Right now i have about 200 DVDs and if you ask anyone thats a small library, and i got rid of the cases at around 60 DVDs.

peace

I, personally, don't like the wallet type holders. They will scratch the discs, sooner or later. I've used them with cds, and cds are tougher than burned dvds. Plus, it's harder to find a particular title. It's harder to get the discs out of the holder, so I'd end up getting fingerprints on them. We all know what fingerprints will do for a movie. Don't want to have to clean it, everytime I take one out. So see...........I, and a few others here, that's posted similar feelings, don't care for the multi-disc wallet type holders.

@BurningAs.........
Are they making holders now, that these concerns have been taken care of? I haven't seen any. Thanks.

@JVC

Well, that's why I'm spending the money now on creating the plastic dvd cases; that way, when I'm out of my parent's house; I can transfer the discs from the wallets and start utilizing the cases; and then just set aside a room in my house for my dvd collection....in other words, the wallets are just a 'temporary storage method' right now so I know all my dvd's are safe.......

P.S.; you are absolutely right about wallets scratching the discs; because my CD's have gone to hell with the constant changing of discs;; when I'm listening to music on the bus ride home from school...so; I do agree with you;

@BurningAs

FYI; I actually do have the room for all of those cases because there's a shelf in my room that can hold @ least 300 worth of cases; then down in my basement there's a whole 'nother shelf that can hold maybe twice that; so I will tell you I am prepared for the room this will take;
