You need to open up the drive, it has 4 screws on top, then on the left hand side, there will be 2 screws holding the tray down, remove them and pull the tray out, beneath it you will find a white part that moves left and right, move it all the way to the left, then re-insert the tray, and screw everything back in, see if it works, if not, you have a dead motor, pm me for more info.

You should just get swap magic, it will let you pull the tray with the litle sldie tool. Or just buy the tool itself, it's only like £2 from www.memtechsolutions.net or look on a US site like devineo.com and get the slide tool there or something, very easy. Look for instructions on how to use it at - www.swapmagic3.com

All you need to do is do the slide before turning the console on, swap the disc, do the slide to lock the tray and press power.

It won't eject, but he could force it out by using swap magic.

Yeah, thats true, i see where your coming from, but in order to use the slide card, you need to remove the front piece of the tray, which cant be removed easily, unless if you get the tray out, so either way he will end up at the same point.

the front bit it easy to come off, use screws or simply pull it off, I've done it to loads of people's ps2s.
