yes i need help to update my firmware for my dvd burner its a lite-on 1635s
when i try tu run the file its give this message no matched drive detected! this utility is only for LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-1635S DRIVE.

Detected drives:
2-0-0-0 F:LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-1635S YP80

whats the deal with firmware..what is it? i saw it on a spool of dvd's- a label that says 'in order to burn @16X you must update firmware'...but im maxed out at 16X already...is there a faster burning speed i dont know about or something?

Firmware can unlock burn speeds but 16x is max right now for burners (exception the new Plextor does 18x).
Firmware mainly is used to update the drive with media codes to give the drive the correct write strategies for media esp. newer ones. Best to keep it up to date.

The firmware currently on your drive is not 'offical' LiteOn. May be why you a having a problem updating it.
Is this an oem drive that came with your PC? If so you will need to check with the pc manufacturer for an update.
If not did you crossflash to another model?
