My previous modchip magic doesn't allow me to use my Gameshark but it can play games perfectly and I can access it's extra features (ex. Tekken 5's Devil Within mode and arcade history) I had it changed to a new modchip (don't know the name)then it allowed me to use gameshark but I can't access extra features i9n games and can't play my copy Battlefront 2 instead when I select Devil Within mode and try to play Battlefront I get a messgae that says "Pleae insert PS2 format disk"

What modchip can allow you to use Gameshark and can play copied games flawlessly? I need help and my PS2 is a v7. Thanks in advance.

what's your new modchip?

All (good) modchips should be able to do that, I'd suggest matrix infinity or DMS4 Pro

A good modchip should have no problems with playing back ups, in any mode, as long as the game was copied correctly.
The mode the game is being played in has nothing at all to do with the chip or it's features.
DMS4 Pro SE would be my choice
Matrix Infinity would be a close second. Only choose the DMS4 Pro first due to it's hard drive capabilities and built in cheat device.

I know for a fact it(DMS4 Pro) works fine with AR Max, but do not have Gameshark to test that. But it has a built in cheat device so you can take those codes and use MaxConvert to convert them to "raw format"
Then in the chips features you can enter those codes just like you would with a cheat disc and store them right on the chips flash memory to be used when needed.

No, the Magic V chips are known for problems.
With a DMS4 Pro chip it will give you 2 options for cheats.
I know it works just fine with AR Max, have not tested the others as i do not have them.
And it has a cheat device built right into the firmware that the chip runs on (ToxicOS V0.41) With this you can take codes from other sites like AR Max, Gameshark, and others. Use MaxConvert to convert the codes to raw format. Then eneter them into ToxicOS where they are stored right on the chip and can be used from a cheat menu with games from a disc or from the hard drive.

that is the way i would figure it, since the clone chip
would get fried when updating.

Yeah. If it's a clone MI, it would've gotten fried. I hope you knew 100% before updating it. The DMS 4 Pro SE and Matrix Infinity support cheat devices, the Crystal Chip does not.

Not if it's a hardware issue. If a wire came loose or something is wrong with the chip hardware, there's no software that's going to do you any good.
