Emerson EWR20V5 and disks

hi everyone, new here, but this is an awsome site. here is my problem, have an emerson ewr20v5, has worked great for months, just this week i started getting "cannot record on this disk", the disks are HP, the first half of these disks worked great, no problems, then about half way thru a pack of 100 started getting the error message, what i did was put in another disk, several of them gave me the same message, then all of a sudden got one to work, recorded a movie, a day or so later, put in a disk, got the error message again, kept putting in a dvd until i got one that would record, so far 19 out of 20 will not record. i find it hard to believe that this many disks can be defective, so what i do is just keep putting in disks until i find one that will record, keep in mind all these disks are from the same stack, a pack of 100. does anyone have any ideas, or has anyone run into this problem. many thanks in advance, cypick.
