Well, i recently just got my Son's PS2 modded with the Ghost 2 modchip and placed a backup in it to test it only to find out that i have to do this thing called flashing which is just ridiculious in my opinion so far. Anyway's I found the latest firmware and learned how to burn it and flash it through the text document that came with it, and wasted 13 CD-rs(Sony HQ CD-Rs at that) and 2 DVD-R's trying only to get a Red screen that says " Insert A PS2 Format Disc "-- the modding has been rechecked a few times already so dont even bother suggesting it please-- i tried going to the fourm of the home site for support and i have to wait for some cruddy adminstrator to activate my account and its taking too long, i went through alot of trouble to get someone to mod this one and took a good friend of mine 2 whole hours to get it.
I dont know where else to find the other versions of firmware because the people on the fourms are obviously too conersative about it in topics, and u have to PM someone to get the links for them.
Im sorry if it feels like im ranting, but this is very annoying, i didnt think this flashing ordeal would be essential to play backups and this is just overall pissing me off beyond beleif. Does anyone know what i can do to get around this situation ? there has said to be sites where u could find previous firmwares that might work if the latest ones dont, but i dont know where to look at all, and i strongly regret getting this chip over the matrix or duo one now. Can anyone suggest anything or link me somewhere, it would be extremly helpful.

Legal reasons :)
To initially flash the firmware onto the EEPROM, using the G.2 Recovery CD or a homebrew flash, boot in Recovery Mode (Reset pressed 5 times from Standby).
Afterwards, it will boot games according to what the firmware was designed to boot.
This is what I found about the flashing process - I assume you have done that? If you have then a complete description of what you did would be helpful to get an answer

lol Alright maybe i did all of this wrong, but i'll try my best to explain it. I haven't flash it as of yet-- so far, all i did was burn the latest firmware from here--
http://zetha.lescigales.org/
That's at the very top of course just to make note-- anyways, i followed the instructions in that text document found in that small download and burned it, placed it in my Playstation 2, and got a red scren everytime that said (please insert a Sony Playstation 2 Disc Format)I burned at the slowest speed possible mutiple times and nothing worked. I burned with Nero and DVD Decrypter on both DVD-rs and CD-rs. Now i notice you said recovery, is that what i was suppose to use or something, i think im misunderstanding alot here now. Maybe you could walk me through it ?

I assume you got this one: http://zetha.lescigales.org/G2_Fw_RC3_v2-21.rar ??
I don't have a Ghost 2 but from what I read, this step is probably where the problem is: "17) wait till its done, remove disc, put in PS2, do the '5 times power/reset' to enter recovery mode as normal". Combine this with this which I read on the net: "To initially flash the firmware onto the EEPROM, using the G.2 Recovery CD or a homebrew flash, boot in Recovery Mode (Reset pressed 5 times from Standby). "
It seems to me that you didn't do this "5 times power/reset" thing? (from standby mode, press reset 5 times)
The recovery CD would be those CDs that you've burnt onto CD/DVDs I think

So was what i downloaded the recovery disc then ? -- also i did the rest thingy already quite a few times. I dont exactly understand it, but i hold the reset button, and when the light goes red-- i reset it again which would go back to green and then continue the process. That would be correct right ?

No I think what it means is that from standby (when the LED is red), you press (NOT hold) reset 5 times, i.e. press and quickly release 5 times

I just tried it and it still goes straight to the red screen with the the insert playstation 2 format bs. As i read on the forums, they said i could try previous firmwares and see if they work, but because im not registered, i cant pm anyone to find the links to the previous firmwares. Im pretty sure im doing everything right, so im not sure what the problem could be exactly.

having a search in google, I can't seem to find a firmware downloading page, guess you'll have to wait for them to accept your registration at the forum... I did a bit of reading in their forum and there have been complaints about how it's picky when it comes to installing the firmware for the first time though: http://www.ghost2.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=373&start=15&sid=ff56...
