I have my Panasonic player now for about 2 weeks.[8D]

While it worked great initially, I start to get playback problems. During playback from harddisk (or DVD-RAM) the sound drops out spontaneously at random points. Most of the time, but not always, the problem is followed by a still-image, later on some seconds, minutes, sometimes even the whole move are skiped.
Typicall I can work around the problem by fast-reverse and playing again. It will then typically play the scene that made problems smothly.

While this is annoying on normal playback. This is a real pain during dubbing.[:(]

I observed the problem during dubbing a movie to DVD-RAM (luckly this can be formated and the step just repeated) and DVD-R (lost that one). When it happens during dubbing, the unit initally counts down the minutes normally. When the problem hits, it is turned of, but the recording indicator of the DVD drive is lit. When the unit is turned back on, it displays "RECOVER" for about 30 seconds.

I suspect a software problem on playback. I doubt its the recording itself (bad antenna signal can be excluded) that is bad, since a scene that makes trouble initially works well when I repeat playback.

Is this a well known problem with a solution to fix it?

Is there a way to "cleanup" the memory of the unit an perform a "restart" (like rebooting a windows to get a smooth running system again)?

Is there a firmware upgrade that solves the problem?
