Actually I'm finding the exact same problem. I'm using the trial version of WinDVD platinum atm.
My DivX 5.05 backups play fine in any other player, even the old windvd4! So whats wrong with WinDVD Platinum?
Anyone? :)

It plays like the first frame in the video, then stops video, but the audio continues...
Has to be something with WinDVD, cos it plays fine in all other players :| Guess I won't be buying it yet

I also made DVD copies that will not play on Win DVD 5. They all play on my stand alone player? Any ideas?

I reckon it could be some type of copy protection thing built into the player?
I'll stick with the older players if they are going to start doing this sort of thing :)

Thats interesting but i have played many dvd-rs in WinDVD, as for the hardware, ye that is a possibility! Maybe the region has to be changed to multiregion or something?

Thanks for responding...I've been unable to get back to this problem. The player freezes; the hourglass displays and the player does not respond. I have to close the player, and put in the original to play, then it works OK. I thought of the region code, but Xpress copy does'nt have a setting for that, does it?
