on sunday i found a guide on how to records/tapes to hd in a newspaper.they said you need a cassette deck and a conecter to your pcs line in or microphone inputs.what i am wondering is if i use a hi-fi will that do the same as a cassette deck.and what kind of a connecter do i need?

What you need will depend on the source you use and the type of computer you have. I'm not clear on the Hi-Fi thing since it's a generic term for High Fidelity. Just tell me what kind of audio imput your computer has and what kind of output your source has.

Well, that wasn't exactly my question, so I'm gonna have to improvise from the model you gave me. Asuming your PC has no high end soundcard, you are going to need a male to male 3.5 mm (1/8") stereo cable. You plug one end to your computer Microphone or Line In and the other end to the headphones jack on the source. If your audio source has RCA stereo outputs (Red and White jacks), you need a hybrid cable, a 3.5 mm (1/8") to RCA cable.

Like I said before, the cables to be used depend on what you are gonna use for playback.
