I have 2 horror flicks: Hide&Seek(2005) and The Hills Have Eyes(2006). I backed them both up with CloneDVD 2 and AnyDVD v6.0.1.1. Backups were completed successfully (at least I thought). When I play them in my DVD player, the movies automatically plays with the commentary. Even with the setting set to off in the audio options, they still play with the commentary. Has any experienced this or know how to resolve it?

Thanks.

Make sure that the AC3 5.1 audio for the movie is selected. It could be choosing to only do the comentary audio track. If you still have trouble try to unselect the comentary audio track so CloneDVD dosent transcode the audio channel when doing a backup.

Hi Larry,

Thanks for responding. There's no AC3 5.1 option nor an option to just select the audio commentary. Here's a screen print for Hide and Seek with the automatic selections that come up. I usually don't make changes to this screen except for removing subtitles and additional languages. This is the first time I've ever encountered a problem with CloneDVD.

For that film I chose English Dolby AC3/6 and DTS/6 and both sound channels came out perfect.

You have the DD AC/3 6-channel not selected. That is the track for the main movie. The 2-channel that you do have selected is the comentary track. So put a check in the 6-channel box to have the main movie track encoded to the DVD backup. You can still keep the 2-channel selected if you want to keep the commantary feature on the DVD. If you dont want it on the DVD then uncheck the 2-channel audio.

Ok Larry - thanks for the clarification. For future reference, how can I tell which one is the audio commentary and which is not? I guess I don't fully understand what's the meaning of AC-3/2 and AC-3/6.

AC3 2 channel is dolby digital 2 channel of audio left and right.

AC3 6 channels has 6 channels of audio (left, right, center, back left, back right and base)

At least I think I am correct on that.

Most newer movies will be AC3 DD 5.1 or 6.0 also some will have DTS(digital theater sound) somthing like that. But in order to hear DTS you will have to have a DTS decoder on your sound system.

Some DVD's might have only DD 2.0 (allot of TV DVD's have only 2.0 and older movies will only have 2.0)

Most of the time you will get a mix of both DD 5.1(6.0) and DD 2.0

The DD 2.0 is uasly comentary or audio streams for Extra's. But in some casses DD 2.0 can be the main audio for the DVD.
