Toshbia SD-210E, Not 'PAL' Format

I copied a film from one of my CDs using Xcopy Express, plays perfect on my computer, but will not play on my Toshiba DVD Player, display a message 'Not PAL Format' on the TV screen, the orginal disc is in 'PAL' format. After changing the format to 'Auto' rather than 'Pal' on the DVD player, the film will then load, but freezes after the first warning screen.
I would greatly appreciate any help.
