i get this error sometime when i try to open up discs w/ shrink..i think it is cheap media i was using to do my backups on. has this happened to you?

If you read through this thread, you may find the answer(s) you are looking for. CRC errors are common questions on this board.

If we're talking copying a back up - yep ran into this on cheap media.
For those I used DVD Decrypter rip either in file mode or iso mode then burned. Tried different drives too and that sometimes worked.
If those didn't work had to pull out the original to redo.
