Im used to getting my dvd labels on places like cdcovers.cc but sometimes the pictures are very blurry afterwards and dont look very good. So I thought that scanning my own dvd labels straight from the dvd would look good. However, I cant find any settings that do. They all turn out pretty bad. I was wondering what you guys do to get good picture quality out of these things.

what kind of scanner do u have?
you have to change the DPI resolution higher to get better pics,
it should be somwhere in the software u use for the scanner.
what kind of printer do u have? PHOTO?
because i don't have time to scan so i use the ones from the internet, and even when they don't look good on the screen the picture still comes better looking then original

I have a hp psc 1610 all in one. Ive bumped the dpi all the way up to 2400 and still it looks like crap. Ive done 300 and 600 too and they look bad aswell. I dont understand whats up with them.
And I use the epson Print Cd program to print my dvds because it seems to give me good image quality usually but when it looks bad on the computer, it usually looks kinda bad on the dvd as well. Do you recommend a better program?

Yes it is. Here Ill give you the options I have when I scan it. I have:
auto correct photos
resize (in inches, cm, points, or pixels,)
Lighten/darken
sharpen
color adjustment
resolution
I have all of those options to configure and scan with. What should I do?
And for example Memoirs of a geisha on cdcovers.cc looks bad. Check it out and youll see what i mean
btw i have an epson r220 also

okay if r u using that to print the dvds if so do u select best photo in the preferences
just looked at that pic, the printer should be able to smooth out that pic and make it look better

when u hit the print button in epson cd prog, the print box comes up, then u wanna hit Manual print and then the epson print box comes up and u select PROPERTIES and then change it to best photo
didn't know if u knew how 2 do this
trust my it will look better, and sorry i dont know why
actually i think because when u change it to best photo then it prints at 1440DPI as oppose to normal prints at 300DPI, big difference

i use arcsoft photoimpression 5 to upload my dvd with an hp all in one 2610xi . i click on preview first then i scan it to my documents my pictures. i then open epson print cd then look for the picture.then i print it with my epson r220. i use 200 dpi .you probably can raise the dpi.it comes out a little off but its acceptable. very important to click on preview then scan to get the picture to scan to the right size

I'd like to but in..... I scan most of my DVDs and then put them through a Adobe Photo Elements program and fine tune it ..... usually all I have to do it use the Blurr effect and you'll be surprise how much better the scan looks. I also download some from the internet and touch them up with the Elemnts or other photo printing programs and I get results like this:
these are on Taiyo Yuden printables. not bad huh? bottom one is on the silver printables that have a hologram look to them. cool huh?
printed on the Epson R320

I am using the epson brand right now, but a question with that. Is ridisc ink any worse than the epson ink? So back to the question, ChrisC Ive tried leaving it the same size and importing it in and ive tried to make it a bigger size and then import it in, no difference. And IHoe those do look good. Id like to get them to look that good lol.

it's just a little touch up with the photo editing program after you scan your disk or download it from the internet...... doesn't take long and I get great results every time!

can't help you there then. All I do is enhance my scan of the disk picture by bluring the image and guess what... it comes out clearer! I guess the glass of the scanner makes the image of the disk blurred a little. can't help that.... unless you take that image and enhance it by using the BLUR effect! and bingoooo....... well, you see my disks in the image above.
