Hello to all,
I newer here and I would like to see if you can have any idea about my PS2 problem.
The console turns on and read any original CD (no modchip on it) but cannot read any DVD. This could be the laser.
But the problem that is bothering me is that suddenly the console turn off and the reset red led remains blinking. After one minute or more the led continues blinking and then goes steady with the console turned off.
If the tray is open, the console tries to close by itself and then the led blinks.
The failure is not periodic, the PS2 could be turned on from 1 to 5 minutes (or maybe more) before the failure arising.
I tested the power supply and is sending 11.89 Volt and I cannot see any variations when the failure starts.
Any idea?
I suspect that a chip is having troubles and when it becomes hot, the failure sparks.
I couldn´t find anything over the Internet refering the blinking led status, but it is common on SONY electronic devices as TVs.

Your ps2 laser isnt reading dvd's because it is probably warn out, but you can re-calibrate the POT's under the laser to get it to read dvd's again. And about the system turning off, its quite wierd, it could be a motherboard problem, because if there was a shortage of power then the red light wont come on at all.

Thanks for the answer.
I have a new laser installed, and the behaviour is the same as the original one.
Could be a BA5815FM failure? It is very strange because I figure now that the failure arises only when I am trying to read a DVD.
