Hi, I trying to backup Scarface with DVD Shrink, but I keep on getting the error "the parameter is incorrect", anyone familiar with this? After working out some bugs I've been backing up my movies with ease but this one is causing me problems. Are there any other programs that shrink DVDs?

Thanks

In a lot of cases Shrink will not work because it is not updated to handle certain protection. Now I must admit that the movie you are referring to is an old movie, however, if it was recently brought out on DVD then it may have some protection.

You can use DVDFab Decrypter found here: http://dvdidle.com/free.htm

Also if you have Nero there is Nero Recode that has the same ability as Shrink.

And to top it all off, if you don't mind spending a little money a great program that is recommended on this site is AnyDVD. You may get a free trial of it at slysoft.com

kirbrand,
The error you got is usually caused by the encryptions but it can also be caused by a structure error. Do what syxguns suggest but then use VobBlanker to correct the errors if there are any and then use Shrink on the finished files.

VobBlanker: http://www.videohelp.com/~jsoto/vobblanker.htm

Below is a guide one of the members here did for using DVDFAB Decrypter> VobBlanker> Nero but you can substitute Shrink in it's place.

You can also use AnyDVD and use the ripping feature and rip the DVD to HD and then use Shrink

Ya, I tried DVD Shrink with AnyDVD in the background, that didnt work so I decrypted successfully with DVD Decrypter then tried opening the files in DVD Shrink, still no luck.

kirbrand,
But did you use the ripper feature in AnyDVD as that uses FixVTS? If you also had used VobBlanker after DVDDecryter then you might have gotten your copy. If I remember correctly this was not that hard of a DVD to Copy.

or you can use FixVTS in RipIt4Me.... it's free and has all the good stuff including exporting to Shrink! And Arniebear's guide has it all, the programs and how to use it:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110,

kirbrand,
Glad you got that disk copied. The 2nd disk just might be a bad mastering press.
