Hi all, I am relatively new to this game of dvd to DivX etc, and even more so when it comes to subtitles! I have a thai film, tom yum goong, and i have the subtitle file, a notepad file which contains all the subtitles and timimgs etc.

I have installed windows media player 10, latest DivX player and VLC. I have downloaded directvobsub filter as well. DivX.com states you should merely pop the subtitle file into the same movie folder and as long as they both have the same file name and the above filter installed, then hey presto, you should see the subtitles. Thats not working.

So I downloaded divxLand media subtitler, and yes, the subtitles appear, and in time, it was amazing! But that was in preview. When I saved the subtitle output as a .srt in the same movie folder and try to play the movie, there are no subtitles.

My question is simple, how can i merge subtitles into my movies. I have the following installed- DVD Shrink, VSODivxToDVD, DVD lab, as well as the above. Is there a function on the directvobsub filter i have to configure?

Cheers guys!

You should be able to see the subtitle on VLC Player. Go to Video menu and select subtitles to be on. As mention, just make sure that video and subtitle are in the same folder and naming convention.

If you want to burn the movie onto a dvd with the subtitle and play on your dvd player, try out this guide...

VSODivxToDVD handles .srt files. You can also change the size and font if you like.

Really? How? If it can, then it will save me having to upgrade my DVD lab to the pro version.

When you fire up WMP 10 look for a big curved arrow in the tray, on the right, and right click on it, it should have quite a few options there.

I'm using VSODvixToDVD (should be the same with CopyX) and have actually done Tom Yun Goong. As long as they are .srt format it should pick them up automatically, if not you can right click on 'Subtitles' and add them, or others. Right click on the sub itself and you choose edit to even customize the subs, change some phrases etc. Look further and you'll see where you can change font/size etc.
