I used DVD Shrink & DVD Decrypter. When I try to play the backed up DVD on my PS2 or my regular DVD player it doesnt recognize the DVD-disc. On RealPlayer it gives me a Macrovision Error.

What could be the problem?

2nd when I am trying to backup another DVD with DVD Shrink, it just freezes at a certain point during the Rip, and gives me a CRC error.

Thanks.

what type of media r u using?

the 2nd part is it might be a protection problem that DVD Shrink cant handle or check the disk to see if it is scratched or dirty?

This is the combo I use and most are Freeeeeee!

1. DVDFab decrypter(Free)
http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

2.VOBblanker(Free) Not always needed

here is a guide for VobBlanker

3. DVD shrink(free) or Nero Recode2(NOT free)just as good if not better

4.Dvd decrypter(free) or IMGburn(free) or Nero Burning Rom(NOT free)

here is a guide for the whole combo

excellent advice from the 300bowler. i couldnt say it any better myself! be cautious on media sales example:1000 dvd's for 20$...dont be fooled by cheap media, you get what you pay for, pretty much

I think I figured out the problem. I am using Generic blank DVD-discs. I bought them at Fry's. Its the GQ brand. What blank DVD brand would be best if I wanted to backup a movie and play it on my PS2 or regular DVD player?

Thank You for replying.

been through that same problem. when i first started backing up my movies, i used the GQ brand from fry's. did not really know the difference. only to realize about 3-6 months down the road that my movie that i backed up on the disc was no longer there, or was so grainy that you could not make out the movie. that is when i switched to Verbatim. have not had any problems with backed up movies since then.

@ gregxiu,

yes that is correct, u cant go wrong with Verbatims, and if u go to frys 2 buy media u can also look for Sony,FujiFilm,Maxell, but these three that i just wrote, have 2 be made in JAPAN, if they are they are made by Taiyo Yuden which are considered 2 be the best. But make sure they say Made in Japan, and if it doesnt i would go for the verbatims

I just got the Verbatims for 25 @ 14.99 at BestBuy. They were the cheapest. There was also Sony and Maxell, but they were not "Made in Japan" but rather Taiwan. They were also a lot more expensive.

Getting them to burn is tough, but once I did, it DID work on my PS2.

They were DVD-R format.

I read for PS2 that you must use those and only those if you have a PS2 Version 6 or older.

The problem is most of the time, the burn does not work now. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the Input.

if u got those verbs and the burning still doesn't work, u might need a firmware update?
