I got a 100 Pack of Office Depot awhile ago. They are 4X DVD+R. I looked in teh List of DVD Media and Codes and it reads Office Depot (ReBrand) DVD+R 4x (RITEK...R02).

So what are these RITEK just changed to office depot. Is this a good media in your opionion for DVD movies.

the Ritek manufactured 4x DVD+R that you have RitekR02s are quite good from my own experience with them...in the 8x DVD+R they are RitekR03, also worked well for me too~ :)

almost ALL of Office Depot's branded media are made by Ritek, and the DVD+R versions are more widely accepted as being "better" than than the DVD-R counterparts (some will argue that, but i see far fewer problems by people using the DVD+R Ritek made media) :)

you should be just fine w/ those Office Depot discs, try them out...if u see issues during playback on your standalone player (ie. pixellation/freezing/skippin/anomalies/etc.) then we can go deeper into finding the root of the problem, if not then for "budget" media, there is no other "store brand" i would recommend higher than Office Depot's brand~ :)

if you don't have good results with the office depot media (made by Ritek), may i suggest trying Verbatim brand next time locally or Taiyo Yuden online~ :) the Verbatims will be "made in taiwan" much like the Riteks (office depot brand). finding Taiyo Yudens locally under either Sony or Fuji brand is becoming much more difficult, as there are specific rated speeds and formats to look for under the various brands to find Taiyo Yuden produced media...also, the "made in japan" on the spindle/wrapper is a MUST to find Taiyo Yudens, among other key things to look for~ :) it becomes a little more trouble than it's worth looking for Taiyo Yudens locally, so that's why I among many other members go online for Taiyo Yuden media...no guesswork involved and there are always frequent sales online w/ free shipping and discounts (supermediastore.com is my personal favorite online retailer for genuine Taiyo Yudens)

good luck

Well I will say these have a great price. Originally 30 USD I had a 20 USD store cash cupon. Thats 10 Dollars in the End.

These seem to be working. I was watching a DVD backup and havent seen any problems. They seem to work out OK

keep using what works for you..... did you try to scan the disk and see what quility score it has. Ritek is a desent disk. and for the break you got then I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT THEM but I only use Taiyo Yuden and now with my new drive I did burn some Verbatim lightscribes which also came out great! here are my scans:

95 quality score

96.27 quality score......

not bad for a new drive learning it's write strategies on the first two disks used....

I have had good success with the Office Depot discs. The 8x and 16x have worked out fine but the 4x gave me problems. I ended up giving away almost 200 of them. I just picked up 75 (8x) and 25 cds in a "bundle" for $19.99. No problems at all so far.

btitus- You lucky devil you ! the 8X's officedepot disc have pretty much vanished in my local area atleast in the two stores I frequent regularly ! The 16X's have supplanted them here far as I can see ! And I'm not complaining ,but I really liked the 8X stuff ! Anyhow OFFICDEPOT has the Sony's onsale till Saturday so I'm going to take their add to Wallyworld sat. & price match on some MIJ Sony DVD-R 16x 's Alas they don't have the Sony DVD+R 16's in 50pk spindles only 25ct. and those are Mit's The nearest WALLYWorld is 15 mi. away so not too bad on fuel ! They're gonna close that store in OCT. and Move to a new SUPERWALLYWORLD store I'm gonna be there when they start closing out the media ! well if they dO! The weird thing on the OD media atleast the 50 & 100 spindles ! is the 100Cts. I've bought are Ritek 's and the 50cts. are RicohJPN ? I'm burning thru a spindle of TDk/Ricohjpns 4X dvd+r's now and those are'nt too shabby ! about 1/2 way down the 100ct. spindle ! so Hopefully when I get to the16x OD/Ricohjpns they'll be good too ! anyhow Congrats on your great find ! Good luck & happy Shopping!

@towlies,

Great find, great price!! I have used Maxell's Ritek R02, and I also can attest to being good media. Worked great with my 4X LiteOn.

Wow! I love shopping for bargains and the best I have found so far have been Maxell MIJ 002's for $19.99/100 CAD. So you have me beat! LOL

sometimes i see in some posts that people will be showing the Nero Disc Quality Test. I was just wondering what exactly am i looking at on this test? What are the main numbers i need to be looking for? thanks for the help.

ive done some research on this, and here is what qualifies a good disc with Nero cd-dvd scans.

numbers to look for when scanning dvd's:
PI Errors Maximum: 280 or less
PI Failures Maximum: 32 or less

number to loook for when scanning cd's (these are VERY general):
C1 Errors Maximum: 20 or less
C2 Errors Maximum: 0

you must also make sure that youre drive can actaully scan for these errors.

@bigtoxy69: Office Depot upped the price of their combo pak (75 8xDVD+r/25 52x cdr) office depot brand to $29.99. Still a pretty good deal even though it's 10 bucks more now. I have enough good quality discs to hold me for a little while now.
