Does anyone else have the TDK DVD-R / DVD+R combo drive? The software that came with it works fine, but Nero will only burn to DVD+Rs and returns an "Invlaid Command" error when I attempt to burn to a DVD-R, any suggestions?
I've got exaclty the same drive and I'm getting the same problem as you.
I created a nero DVD image using nero express which burn fine using nero to drv-rw or dvd+rw but not to dvd-r, I get invalid media nd the disk won't close. I ven tried doing a straigt copy of the dvd+rw I'd burnt to dvd-r and that failed in the same way. I'm going to try burning from alcohol just to see if it's nero.
I'd really love to know the answer as I've wasted 3 dvd's already.
Same TDK same trouble. Using DVDXCOPY using either nero or gear +r works fine, But can't use -r. Using DXCXpress I can only burn to -r can't burn +r, go figure. Nice burner otherwise,powerful laser. Iam using newest firmware.
BTW NomadSoul did Alcohol work?
I've just tried burning an image created using nero vision express using alcohol instaed of Nero and got the same results. These attempts have been made using packard bell dvd-r's. I might try gain with verbatim 4x dvd-r's. I had already made a data dvd-r with nero using the same packard bell dvd-r's and that was fine, although it was full and the images i've tried to burn have been about 3.3gb.
I'm starting the get a nice collection of coasters here.
I have also tried with Nero, DVD Decryptor, DVD builder, and Easy CD creator, no sucess on any dvd-r's (even the TDK-r that came with the drive. :(
I sent a report to TDK's customer support a message about this, I'm awaiting a responce, I'll post again when I find anything out
I've no problem burning my tdk using Nero onto dvd-r media. The disk that I used is from shop4tech and Leda. I've not have one coaster yet (knock on wood). However, I do not have much luck with the Matrix dvd-r disk, it gave me an 'Invalid Medium' error. It crapped out immediately and so the disk is still blank. I'll wait until Nero 6 comes out and see if that would fix the problem. You also might want to update to the newest Service Pack for your OS and use the newest Nero 5.5.10.42. Good luck for now.
