Okay, I'm driving myself crazy here and I've been trying to figure this out for the last 53 hours or so. I'm totally out of ideas at this point. I recently installed a new 160 GB hard drive in my ver. 1.6b xbox. I have a smartxx OPX SE chip, am running M8_16 for my bios and EvoX 3935 for my dashboard. I used this guide to create an install disc: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=221251.

My problem is that G is showing up in the evox settings as having 0 free space even though I formatted it and it is selecting as "yes" for being in use. It shows up in FlashFXP but I can't transfer any files to it.

I tried reformatting the whole drive again as well as formatting the G partition separately. Neither worked. Could someone take a look at my .ini's and see if there's a problem? I'd be so very greatful.

Here is what is listed in my .ini file:

so which bios M8_16 do you have? like M8_16_LBA_67 or M8_16_LBA_7.
It is your bios.

DID you set "use G drive" on settings of Evox?

Yes, it's set up at "yes" to use the G drive. I don't know which M8_16 bios it is because there was no .nfo with the bios file when I downloaded it from xbins. It was in the folder for evox bios for ver. 1.6 in xbins. Is there any way for me to find out specifically which bios it is?

There is no readme; that's the problem. I even went back to double-check and there isn't one there anywhere for the file I downloaded. It's called m8_16.bin and there's no other info. about it except that it is specifically for xbox ver. 1.6. And I don't have a xenium, I have a smartxx, but that probably doesn't matter anyway. Am I doomed then?

OK
do you have any available bank on SmartXX? if so, try to download Evox M8+ bios which support G drive or bigger hdd (>137GB) and flash it to an empty bank.

Okay, I tried flashing M8plus_16 but it didn't say which version it was. With this bios the G drive still says 0 available. I'm working on getting that installer disk you mentioned but it's a poorly seeded torrent so I don't know how long it'll take. For now though, can you tell me if it matters that "g" is not in this part of the .ini file:

Should there be a "# <SpaceG> line of code in there?

I'm still downloading the installer. It's 500 MB and transferring at about 4 KB/S so it's gonna be a while. Damn torrents! I'll let you know once I've tried it.

when you flash the M8+ bios which support hdd >137GB, turn xbox back on. Then you HAVE TO REFORMAT F DRIVE ONLY. Everything in F drive will be lost. After reformat F drive, go back to Evox settings you should see F drive is bigger now.

So you dashboard should be in C or E drive. Otherwise, xbox will not boot.

Thanks you guys so much. I finally got it to show the right amount of space:) I took the M8plus_16 bios I had and patched it because that installer didn't have enough seeders for me to be able to download it. I made it so that all of it (about 150 GB) went to F. Is it safe to do it that way? I heard of people having problems but I figured that since my hdd isn't huge it would be okay.

I just have one more quick question: how much space do I need to leave on E for game saves and whatnot? Thanks again.

Do I really need 5 GB free in E for game saves? Or does it need it for something else?
