I just got my flip top a few days ago and its installed. but when i tried to play i hear a loud grinding noise inside, when i put a swap magic disk in it doesnt read the disk, just keeps say "reading disc". Can anyone help me?
P.S.- I have a fat v7 ps2, and if i put something on the top of the flip cover the noise stops, but the problem continues.

Sounds like your flip-top isnt installed correctly. Take it off again & make sure you aren't trapping the eject/power ribbon cable. Also make sure you've remembered to use the white lid-weight. Its a small round plastic disc that was under the drive tray housing. You need to make sure that is put back into the flip's lid.

hmm... my eject/reset ribbon cable does stick out above the disk tray. But i dont' know where to put the eject/reset ribbon cable because i dont want to pinch it. If you can, can you tell me where's a good place to put it?
P.s. - i do have the white lid-weight on.

sellotape it to the side, the way the cable tends to fold towards from its position inside your ps2 before you opened it.

What did you mean by "sellotape?" Im guessing you mean to fold it on the side behind the eject/reset switch, and tape it? Or what? And is this probably the problem?

I tried playing again, so i put the swap magic DVD disk in, (didnt change anything) for some reason when the ps2 is on the ps2 settings screen (starting screen) and i pressed eject to take out the disk, the ps2 reseted then the disk tray came out. Is this suppose to happen?

did you transfer the white disc from your original top to the flip top as this contains a magnet that holds the disc in place.

yes i have transfered the white disk to my flip top. but im not sure what the problem is, i dont think it makes a grinding sound anymore. but when i put in my swap magic, all it says is "reading disk, no data." But my Eject/Reset ribbon is sticking out above my disk tray (so if i open my flip top you could see the ribbon). So im thinking thats the problem but i do not know where to put it.

well it isnt making a loud grinding noise, anymore but it still says "reading disc..." at the bottom and "no data" at the top and it doesnt start the game or anything.

Just tape it down on the sidewhere the reset and eject button go that should fix the problem about the wire. As far the reading error check to see if all ribbons are connected there for two from laser that are brown and three sliver or white from the disc drive.

try leaving the fliptop open, take the white circular piece out, and place it directly on the disc.
