when i am promted for a choice on the menu the option to higlight a selection is not there. I got the same results with DVD Fab decrypter as well. Any ideas?

The only way I could get this one to back up & work is using AnyDVD (Latest)and CloneDVD2 (Latest) and Clone the entire DVD to a single layer blank, or, use a dual layer and get 0% compression.. It will be compressed 42% on single layer, but will play very well. Otherwise you'll have to select title 1,angle 1 and settle for the Theatre version. I doubt shrink can do this one . Possible. But unlikely

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

AnyDVD + DVDDecrypter + IMGBurn add one Verbatim DL and voila! one good copy of Final Destination 3.
AnyDVD and Clonedvd2 also work fine.
Just choose the one angle (Theater version) and you'll be at 100% again.

Used AnyDVD with shrink and decrypter removing just extra languages and plain dvd and still looks good on 42 in plasma. I'm getting old so mabe it's the eyes. Worked on choose their fate too.

New build with goodies

No AnyDVD and all I used are some FREE tools only.

Well, there are tons of FREE tools that can rip any dvds (yes.. even new released) flawlessly, regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS. Below are some very useful FREE tools to have.

<< *FREE* Ripper & Editing tools >>
** DVDFAB Decrypter - one of the best FREE ripper now (takes 12 minutes to rip)
** RipIt4Me - one of the best FREE COMBO/ripper including DVD Decrypter + PSL (12 - 15 minutes to rip)
** VobBlanker - one of the strongest FREE editing tool (2 - 5 minutes to process/fix fake structural, fake cells, dummy vts/pgc, etc. flawlessly, it can "cut, edit, strip and blank" out any scenes/vts/cells or unwanted junks.)
** FixVTS - one of the best FREE junks processing tool (works the same way like VobBlanker, but it "can not" edit or blank out unwanted junks.)
** PgcEdit - a very useful FREE editing tool.

<< *FREE* Transcoding tool >>
** DVD Shrink - (one of the best FREE transcoding engine).

<< *FREE* ISO/Image burning engines from LUK >>
** DVD Decrypter
** ImgBurn

For more info on how to use DVDFAB Decrypter or RipIt4Me, check out the links below:

I think the problem people are having isn't a problem ripping and burning. It's that after doing so the "choose the fate option" appears on the screen but doesn't allow for actually choosing heads or tails. This seems to be true with either Shrink or Recode. A full rip and burn with DVD Decrypter (AnyDVD running) to a DL works, as well as using CloneDVD2 based on reports.

Here's what I found thru experimentation.

Nero Recode won't allow the option to work for me no matter what for whatever reason.

DVD Shrink will. When I omitted the 2 channel audio and the subtitles, the option didn't work. When I did a complete backup of the whole disk without deleting anything, it worked. A full backup to a DL disk worked as well.

I ripped an ISO with DVD D with AnyDVD. I did an automatically compressed full disk backup of the ripped ISO to another ISO which I tested to see if the option worked, mounting it as a virtual DVD. It did, so I burned the ISO with DVD Decrypter.

CloneDVD, compression 42%, pick your fate option works, quality good on a 32" TV. Full Disk Compression. Try using your number buttons instead of the compass face navigation wheel. 1 for heads, 2 for tails. The wife and I were not really impressed with the choose their fate option, maybe when they think the storyline thru next time the options will be better.

With Shrink, the compression was 55% for the main title. It looked OK on a 30-inch HDTV. The highlight thing worked.

@spiderman

No advanced features, just a regular one pass analysis. I'm sure advanced analysis will do a better job. It's not a movie I care that much about. I was just curious as to what was causing the highlighter to appear and disappear. I still don't know. At first I thought it was buried in a PUO or PUP, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

anybody have any ideas what cause the highlighter to appear or not appear? I tried it in both my Sony and Toshiba DVD players and neither work, I can push 1 or 2 on my remote but the highlighter does not appear. I am also trying a full backup as we speak and when I get home in about 3.5 hours I will let you guys know.

This is a Sh$%s and giggles issue for me as well, just curious as to why it works on some and not on others. Perhaps a new gimmick to get more people to buy the enhanced version of a movie on DVD? Kinda like those old AppleIIE text programs where you picked one of two or three options on each frame....

It worked on all of mine, My Cheap A$$ Toshiba didn't show the icon around heads or tails, but would work when I pressed the 1 or 2 button on the remote. The original did not show the Icon at all on this player either, strange somehow. Like I said earlier, interesting concept which could be dome better on later movies.
