i have spent the past hour or so reading all the posts about good quality media. i have a lite-on dvdrw shw-160p6s (it came with the pc) and i just wondered if anyone could give me advice on what the best media for my drive is, and more importantly where a good place to buy in the uk is (preferably online. Many thanks.
Agree with the above, but I prefer shopping for media here http://www.cd-rmedia.co.uk also check out the following link for good media depending on their media codes, good retailers will always tell you the codes before selling: http://digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
i highly recommend www.svp.co.uk.
I personally (highly) recommend 'Verbatim TY' discs, or 'vanilla' TY discs. some info here, albeit a little outdated, but you'll get the drift - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/229523
edit- in fact just have a mooch on svp's website, they have now got the Verbatim (Taiyo Yuden) (16x) DVD+R in again, this time in tubs of 25.
Verbatim have entrusted the manufacture of the disc to the world renowned Taiyo Yuden factory. These discs carry Taiyo Yuden's 16x DVDINFO tag of YUDEN000T03. Couple that with Verbatim's high levels of packaging and quality control and you have what is probably one of the best quality DVDR discs in the world!
Packed in spindle tubs of 25 discs. All the discs and the packaging is branded with the Verbatim name and logo.
ADVDInfo: YUDEN000T03
Spindle tub of 25 [3458] £6.99
Box of 200 discs [3458 BOX] £54.25
i'm not gonna hang around, the Verb TY sell at svp for awhile then dry up for good (due to people buying them all up, wonder who that could be, eh creaky!), gonna bag me some of these sexy discs while i can
Hey Creaky!very good recommendation you gave them about SVP,but they have to be really very quick if they want to get their hands on these Ultra Sexy Verbs(as you call them)before they get out of stock and you'll be the one they should thank for that :)i'm just kidding here :)
thanks v much for the info. had a read of link ashj. thankyou. I have just ordered some verbatims from dvdshop online. i cross-referenced their code with lists on here and seem to be good quality. Shipping a bit pricey though, so i'll have a look at svp in future :)
