problems with Pioneer A05 in external 2.0 usb case

I just bought a Cendyne 105/A05 drive,and an external 2.0 usb case,I installed the drive with the jumper set as master, and after plugging everything into my PC ,XP Prof. ID's the drive and everything looks fine in the device manager,after installing Intervideo's WinDVD I can't get the drive to play a movie,or read ISO's using DVD decrypter. Could it be the jumper setting on the drive? Do I need some other type of software just to play a store bought DVD? I built my 1.8 P4 myself ,but I'm not a die hard PC guru,any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks
