I have used Shrink many times without issues. I have found lately that some movies I am backing up start to pause and skip during play back. One film is wallace and gromet. I have used TDK media and HP media and both times I got the same thing happening , I even returned the original disk for another.

Any ideas as to why this might happen,

Also I use AnyDVD and sometimes use CloneDVD. Is there a way to set the copy speed on clone DVD?

Thank you

Try some quality media such as Verbatim (MIJ/MIT) or Maxell (MIJ only), the discs you are using are questionable at best. Also, no multitasking and don't burn at more than half the ratee speed of your blank.

when you get to the burn page, you will see a "preferred speed" menu on the right hand side, with a drop down menu to select the speed you want to burn at.

if the freezing/skipping is occuring nearer the end of the movies you might want to decrease the size (to around 4300-4400MB) of the new dvd. this will prevent writing closer to the edge of the dvd where lower cost/quality media sometimes have problems. this will however increase the amount of compression to a corresponding degree. with clone dvd you see the option for sizing on the opening window, lower center right. choose "custom" from the drop down menu and write in preferred size.

Has anyone ever hit the pause button on shrink while it is encoding? i was wondering if that might be the problem. i never press it [too scared to] cuz i dont want to sit through another 3-6 hour encoding session for nothing
