I have a slimline, and recently, due to the heat it has been locking up on me, and sometimes refuses to load games, until i use a fan to blow at it, and cool it down, i know that there are those fan for sale on ebay and other places that you plug at the front of the system, but i would like to know how effecient these are. I opened up my ps2, and stuck a desktop fan on the heatsink, and reduces the temperature by half, so im thinking of cutting a whole in the side, and mounting a LED fan on it.
Has anyone done anything similar?

seen that, you'll need to make sure the dust doesn't go in from where the fan is, and it's a lot of work... personally i just use a desktop fan to blow at the thing and it works fine

usually a house fan would do it. I had the same problem on vacation at my friends who had no AC. Had to stick a house fan in front of it and also stand it verticle so that less surface area was touching anything to heat up.

I solved mine the expensive way by getting it put in an HD Combo case when i added on the internal hard drive to the V12
It has 2 fans in it rather than just one.
