hi, I have a modded slim ps2 but I do not know what mod chip I have installed in my console. My mod chip works fine with dvd-rom, video dvd, cd-rom but not VCD and cd-r. Is that anyway I can check what is my mod chip ?? as I could not detect usbadvance in my burn cd-r disc.Hence, i could not install a usb hdd to my ps2. Sad :(

Do I need to open up the console to check??

firstly, read the forum rules as you're not allowed to bump your posts. Second, don't be expecting people to answer your question instantly (you only waited 9 min) we don't just sit here 24/7 waiting for people to post questions for us to answer. Finally, PS2 doesn't play VCD/SVCD format that's your problem.
