Sony VRD-VC20 Question...

I just received my Sony VRD-VC20, but for some reason my computer doesn't recognize it, and says there is a problem with the equipment... I have a Sony Vaio, so you'd think there wouldn't be a compatibility problem... I installed the drivers, and even installed the Nero Suite, despite the fact that I already had Nero6 on my computer... if I can't get it to work out, I have to send it back, since I don't need the burner for any other reason, except for projects that are in my computer...
