I recently received a VHS to DVD burner (DVD+R). It's a stand-alone machine that will work to whatever vcr YOU hook up to it. It works nicely on tapes I recorded myself but it refuses to copy anything with a copyguard.

I was wondering if there is anything I could buy to get past the copyguards.

I doubt it. I bought 2 copyguard descranblers (or whatever you want to call them) just before they were stopped being allowed into the U.S. This was about mmmm I guess 7 or so years ago. I used it to make copies of my VHS movies as it removed the copy guard protection. Of course now I've converted everything to dvd and dont need it/them anymore. As i've replaced all my VHS movies now to dvd. I cant remember what I paid for them..it seems like they cost around 50 or 60 dollars, it was many years ago. The device is powered by (1) 9 volt battery (the same little square battery that is used in transistor handheld radios). If you're interested in it plz let me know. I know where one of them is at least..lol. Oh, its about the size of a pack of cigarettes (only a tad shorter and a little thicker, maybe a little wider also, but not much). I was extremely lucky to have gotten them before they were banned here in America. Good old fashioned freedom..lol..wonder where it went to..:)

I forgot to mention, I was using it between 2 VCRs. I played the original VHS movie thru the first VCR as it went thru the descrambler and was recorded then onto the 2nd VCR where the blank vhs tape was. It woked perfectly. Finally something from China that works good. lol

I use a digital camcorder and Windows movie maker. Hook your vhs output to the input of the camcorder which changes analog to digital and stores on your hard drive. I then use dvd santa to burn to dvd
