I was trying to back up Basic Instinct 2 with Shrink, then DVDFab Decrypter, but getting varies sector errors. The DVD is one of those Sony Interactive types, and when inserted only displays "Root" instead of the actually movie title. Is there anyway to get rip this one? Even when I try to "explore" the disk at the DVD drive, it does not seem to allow me to read it.
-thanks,
Russ

Hello.

DVDFab Decrypter, then Vobblanker, then Shrink should work.

Also Ripit4me will work:

As did DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD.

As laddyboy said
DVDFab+VobBlanker+Shrink
this combo worked for me, as it has for every backup, for the sony movies even if u rip it with DVDFab decrypter u have to use VobBlanker before shrink and it will work

Thanks everyone for your help~! The DVDFab - VobBlanker - Shrink did the trick! This will help in the future for sure! Also someone mentioned there about taking out junk like the FBI warning etc, it would be great rid of the previews too, do I need to reauthor for those?
-thanks again,
Russ

I ripped it with RipIt4Me, and burned with DVD-RB Pro and CCE. I was surprized such a boxoffice loser would be so heavily protected.

Okay, so I've got the NEWEST version of the free DVDfab. I still get a "process failed" error after I hit start on FAB. From Laddyboy's link it says that I should have turned off Autorun since day one of backing up my movies.

I didn't so now maybe I have some extra crap (thanks sony) on my pc preventing me from burning stuff. Although I have burned SONY movies before with no problem.

If that is the problem, how do I get rid of that extra stuff???

Thanks

Budweiser, Corona, Miller, Heineken.
I dont care, just gimme one!

I doubt that "extra stuff" is causing the problem. See if there's anyting in this thread that helps. The program's author is one of the posters:

Have you tried ripit4me?

Eh laddyboy...
Thanks man!!! I've been backing up my DVD's for like 2 years now.
My FAB/Shrink/Decrypter combo has always worked until now. Well that ripit4me worked wonders on my movie!
Good advice and thanks again!
