Okay, this is a subject that has been buggin me for a while. Lets say u just softmodded your xbox and you sign into xbox live. If you stay out of matchmaking, do they kick you off of matchmaking or Xbox live entirely. Please post your answers clearly!

if your talking about halo 2 with halo2 mods on even if you sign in to redownload the maps to get rid of the modded map you still get band. I found that out the hard waya lol :( but if you sign on live with a modded xbox i think you get band from the hole of xbox live.

Ok well first off if you sign onto Xbox Live with modded maps on your harddrive then you get banned no less than six hours whether you are in Matchmaking or not. Bungie/Xbox Live scans your Xbox's harddrive to check if your maps are moddified in any way. But don't mod on Xbox Live, you ruin it for everyone else. Keep it for system link and/or Xlink Kai and XBConnect.

Andrizzle... you need to have a modded dashboard (Evox, UnleashedX ect.) to FTP your xbox. When you have a modded dashboard, you will be able to see the xbox ip addresss, and then type in your xbox's ip address in FlashFXP.

If you dont know how to do all that i suggest you get Action Replay, 1st Splintercell (to load linux onto your xbox). Then if you have any problems from there... go to Azzidrain's tut. of softmodding.

If any other problems happen from there, PM me or just post a new reply!

Q

How will I know if I've been banned by Bungie or by Xbox Live?
A

The Bungie team is banning people from Halo 2 matchmaking and Bungie.net once we have solid evidence that someone has cheated or engaged in conduct we consider to be grounds for banning. If you are banned by Bungie, it means that we have actual game data that shows you have used a standby exploit, played with hacked or modified content or you collaborated to boost up the leaderboard. If you are found to be guilty of this you will be flagged in our system and a ban will be applied that prevents you from entering into matchmaking on Xbox Live. You will still be able to play custom games but you will not be able to play in any of the matchmaking playlists. You will also be removed from any existing leaderboards and your account will be blacklisted from our website.

If you're banned by the Xbox Live team, it will likely be due to amassing enough negative feedback to warrant some degree of punishment. The Live team has the ability to ban your entire gamertag from ALL of Xbox Live. This means you won't be able to play ANY game on Live, not just Halo 2. The Live team can issue bans that range from 24 hours (first time, minor offenses) to permanent. In addition, they have secondary punishments such as blocking a players ability to use voice chat.

Maybe. But why? You should have never played with mods in the first place on Live. Well in Matchmaking.

I dont know if this is true but i read forums that if you go on live with a soft modded box meaning whole new dashboard that xbox live scans your hdd for illegal files and then if they do find hacked files they rename them and dont put the originals back and then your box is screwed cuzz then you cant boot from your hdd

IS THIS TRUE?!?!?!?!?!?!?

@robidy9

I don't believe that is true. When you sign onto Xbox Live with just the new map packs modded then your Xbox Live account gets banned from only Halo 2 Matchmaking. Supposedly if you sign on to Xbox Live with a modded Xbox dashboard then supposedly your Xbox gets banned from Xbox Live. I seriously doubt that Bungie/Xbox Live would go through the trouble to change the name of your Default.xbe file just so your Xbox would be screwed. But most modded dashboards now come with a feature that changes your IP settings and changes it from Automatic to Manuel, not allowing you to connect to Xbox Live.

Considering I have answered this same question twice in this post, please stop asking it, lol.
