I have no problems converting avi's to mpeg's using the project wizard. However i have one slight problem, even when using the highest quality motion search precision, movement of people etc in the film is not 100% smooth. The other interesting thing is that if i use TMPGENC with manual settings i can never burn the resulting mpeg for use in my DVD player whereas using the wizard always works. I used the manual settings thinking that increasing 25fps to 30fps might cure this non-smooth movement problem. Any ideas??

check out the guides and articles on this site. All the answers u need for good quality video and audio when encodeing virtually anything can be found here. Also is your source avi in divx format?
