Can't say whether or not they are the cheapest but I've purchased quite a bit of stuff from www.gocybershop.ca

Another place I've had good service from is www.ihackps2.org

I purchased swapmagic 3.8 (coder version) from them (ihackps2) a couple months ago and received them very fast.

Try Go Cyber Shop: http://www.playstationmodchip.com/customer/home.php?cat=191

They ship from Ontario(that's where I got my DMS4 SE Lite from, they're pretty fast, got the chip in 6 days, pretty fast considering it was during Canada Day and Independence Day in the US that it was ordered). They have both 3.6 and 3.8 CODER(I would recommend CODER. It's $19 more expensive than 3.6, but CODER allows the use of Action Replay cheats. Little tip: the Action Replay MAX codes are not supported, but there's a guide made by MasterChu somewhere here to convert those codes to Action Replay 2, which is what Swap Magic CODER uses as cheat system). Give them a go, they're one of the cheapest places I've found to buy a chip or boot disc.

My console collection: Version 14A PlayStation 2(chipped), Version 7 PlayStation 2, PlayStation(both models), Wii, Gamecube, N64, Super NES(original from US and Japan and Mini), NES(front and top loader)Model 1 & 2 Genesis, Sega CD, Sega 32X, Atari 2600, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Master System(Model 1 and 2), Atari Flashback 1 & 2, FC Twin(2 in 1 NES/Super NES clone), GN Twin(2 in 1 NES/Genesis clone), Atari 7800, Intellivision II, TurboGrafx 16, GameBoy Color

So Hey...

What modchip do you guys reccomend off "Go Cyber Shop"?
I've heard the Magic Modchip is good or something, but its price is a little too low to sound high quality.

thanks

They are both great chips.

DMS may just edge it if you are usign a slim and want to use HD Combo at a later date, other than that, you cant go wrong with either.

I have the matrix chip, have done for 3 months and never had a problem :)

It's only the Version 12 that needs a laser fix. If I remember correctly, the Version 12's laser's coils and diodes run at a voltage that's too high. This could cause premature laser burnout. The laser fix limits the voltage of the coils and diodes so that they don't burn out due to useless, excessive activity.

I'd recommend a Matrix Infity Green Dot or a DMS4 SE Lite if you buy from Go Cyber Shop. These guys don't sell the DMS4 SE Pro though. If you want an internal hard drive add-on, you'll have to buy it off of modchip.ca(it's about $80 Canadian, if I remember correctly). It's the HD Combo. You can't use the ToxicOS HD Loader to play your games off the hard drive because the DMS4 SE Lite only supports ToxicBIOS, which is much more simplistic. Tip: If you want to play your games off the hard drive, you'll need to use Memory Card DEV.olution. You'll have to make a save with PS2 Save Builder(Google it) that includes a BOOT.ELF file(use LaunchELF and rename it to BOOT.ELF) and an HD Loader 0.8 ELF(don't know where to get one). Once you open up Save Builder, change the Root/ID to BOOT(that's the folder it will be in on the Memory Card), then click File>New. Add BOOT.ELF(your renamed LaunchELF file) and whatever name you have for the HD Loader ELF. You'll need Action Replay MAX to uncrush this to the Memory Card(save your save as a .MAX file). Copy this to a USB pendrive, then uncrush it in Action Replay MAX. When you want to play a game off of your hard drive, simply press Triangle on your controller and you'll boot up LaunchELF. Here's how to assign a file: http://www.exploitstation.com/articles/launchelf_tut/launchtut.html (only read about using LaunchELF). This should prove helpful when you get your chip.
NOTE: Make sure your PlayStation 2 is not an SCPH-75001 system. This one has the support for IDE hard drive add-ons removed(which means you can't use HD Combo and you're stuck with a crappy USB hard drive and USB Advance.) Check under your PlayStation 2 and see what's your console's model number(SCPH- followed by 5 numbers).
Oh and by the way, ToxicOS/BIOS is only for the DMS4 SE chips. Take a look here for Matrix Infinity Green Dot info(and DMS4 SE Pro, SE Lite doesn't have the HD Loader program built in the flash and doesn't have 2MB of flash memory). Like this you'll be able to chose the chip you want: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/304534
