I have swap magic 3.8 (coder) and I have tried pretty much everything that I know to use gameshark v4 with it.
I also tried the trick where you take out the memory card (although I heard it was for ARMAX).
I have slim ps2, not the fat one but almost all threads here explain how to use gameshark on fat ps2.
So I was wondering if anyone could help me out
What I have:
slim ps2 with a flip top
swap magic 3.8 (coder)
gameshark v4
It would be great if someone knew how to make it work and post the instructions.
Thanks in advance

1. Load up the Gameshark
2. Select codes
3. Go to start game, tray will eject/slim will reset the boot info
4. Put in Swap Magic (CD version if the game you're wanting to load is a CD one, DVD version if it's on DVD)
5. When SM screen appears, use your swap method to put the backup in & press X. Game will load with codes active.
Always 1st with 100% working PS2 Online Game DNA$ IDs!!

It goes all fine until I try to boot my game
1. I choose the codes (in gameshark)
2. I switch to swap magic
3. when it says switch disc I switch to my game (dvd)
4. But it freezes when it tries to boot it
in the screen where it says "booting game, please wait"
am I doing something wrong?

If gameshark doesn't work with swap magic 3.8 on slim ps2,
should I get other cheating device such as ARMAX or codebreaker?
Does codebreaker work with swap magic?
I like codebreaker because there are so many cheats for it
But I would still like it if gameshark worked...

What about ARMAX?
Also on Swap magic website it says it is possible to use gameshark, ARMAX and codebreaker with swap magic 3.
What is up with that?

I read somewhere that you can use codebreaker 9.2 cracked with swap magic 3. is this true?
If so then how do you burn it on to a cd, is there a special way?

I tried that method super and it didn't work for me. What I did was get Action Replay EVO Swap Magic Edition, and I followed the instructions and it worked after following the readme.

thanks for the info, omgwtfbbq
(you saved me alot of time...)
When I use my ARMAX evo (back up) the game won't load
1. swap magic 3.8
2. ARMAX evo - choose codes
3. swap magic 3.8
4. try to load game (dvd) but the screen goes blank
You said you have ARMAX evo swap magic edition, is that different from normal ARMAX evo?

Oh, and one more question
is there a gameshark swap magic edition
Since I also have a gameshark (also sometimes it's better to use gameshark codes)

the difference is that it has a in built DVD loader into the AR MAX that boots with the swap magic, you don't have to swap the disc when using it. and no there is no gameshark for swap magic, i have tried looking i did try to make a xploder for swap magic ages ago but it never loaded so i haven't touched it since, i asked for help on this forums too but no one seem to want to help.

hey jaleneme, do you have a gameshark v4?
If you do, do you use it to play your backup games (with swap magic)
If so could you tell me how?
Thanks to omgwtfbbq I got ARMAX EVO to work on my slim ps2, but on some games I rather use gameshark.

Okay, yesterday I tried using gameshark again and I figured out that if I don't select any cheats, I can play my backup game.
So the thing is if I don't select any codes I can use my gameshark with my swap magic, but if I do select the codes I want I can't use my gameshark, which defeats the whole purpose of gameshark...
Does anybody else have this problem?
Maybe it's my swap magic version? (I have swap magic 3.8 - coder)
or my ps2 (slim ps2)

If no one has this problem, someone please tell me what I am doing wrong.
Or it would also be great if someone told me a version of gameshark that will work with swap magic (not the old versions...)

Anyone...
this is what I am doing...
1. run gameshark and choose codes
2. select start game then change gameshark disc to swap magic disc
3. when swap magic asks to swap disc, swap to backup disc
4. But it freezes in the booting scene
It shows green bars on the bottom and on the left when it freezes...

posting again... (nobody is willing to answer...)
On swap magic website, faq section it says all I have to do is
1. select codes in gameshark
2. switch to swap magic
3. switch swap magic disc to backup disc and it will work!
But it doesn't work for me!
I want to know if anyone tried this method and actually played their backup games with cheats enabled...
anyone?
