Tomorrow, I'll be getting a modchip for my gamecube, however someone said to me that if the lens of the gamecube are too used and old, some games might not run in my gamecube (which really sucks). My gamecube is 3 years old btw. I wanna know if what I got told is true, false, most likely or not likely to happen. I really need an answer for this before tomorrow, I don't wanna waste money because I'm not too 'wealthy' Any help, comments, suggestions are really appreciated. Thanks

Yes, your gamecube might need a lens adjustment (A.K.A. POT Adjustment). However, this is easily done w/ an ohmeter if you are opening up your gamecube to install the modchip. If your get it installed or are buying a pre-modded system professionally, they will usually adjust this for you.

First of all let me say that 75$ is quite expensive for a modchip especially if you don't know what kind it is. Anyways, if you install the modchip but some of your backup games don't work, refer to this page:

http://modthatcube.pxn-os.org/content/dre.htm

and that will outline in detail what the problems may be.

Also, the resetting you had to do should not affect whether or not you need a POT adjustment. If you do need to adjust it, it's not because of ur somehow damaged original game.
