Hi There
Could anyone help me I have had a Pioneer A03 new in house for over a year the drive is new and came with the leads and Manual.
I have no software at all .
Do I need drivers for this drive and could anyone suggest any good writing software I am very new to this so any help would be very helpful to me.
One last question I take it the drive plugs into the motherboard.
Hope you guys can help me
Many Thanks
Vernon.
The drive will connect into an IDE connections on your motherboard. If you already have a drive there, it will need to be set to a master/slave drive and the second ddrive needs to be its opposite, ie master or slave. This only applies if you connect them on the same Cable, which is most likely.
Software to start you off with would be Smart Ripper or DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD's. DVD2One to compress the data (if it is needed) and Nero 5.5.10.28 / Stomp Record Now Max 4.5 to burn the DVD's
Your basic pc hardware should consist of:
hdd
floppy disc
cd/dvd rom
(dvdrom important to rip, however you can use your dvd rewriter - but it will be slower at ripping)
You forget any connection using the floppy cable - different size - current handling.
You need to connect it to the ide cable.
Your hd will be used primarily on ide0 and set as master (via jumper on the rear)
Now your cd or dvd rom will probably be set as slave (and connected to the same ide cable as the hd.
All you need to do is set your rewriter as Master and connect the ide to ide1.
Make sure your bios is setup with autorecognition - so it will be recognised.
Your Operating system should now do the rest - and you probably will not require any additional drivers for the 103.
I have the 103 - no problems at all using ME
The software - you should have had a disc bundled with it which contains Mydvd and I think nero - early version.
However, what oriphus suggested would suffice.
dvd decrypter/smartripper are available to d/l for free here.
Also dvdshrink is a free d/l - just to get you started.
Hi There
Many thanks for all you guys out there that have helped me on this one.
Just two more questions how do i get into the Bios settings and also if i was replacing my CD rom drive andf put in it's place the DVD Recorder would I still have to change the jumper setting.
Once again may I thanks you all for your help.
Many Thanks
Vernon.
During the boot process - POST there should be a messgage saying ' press xxxx to enter setup'
Mine you have to press delete - yours maybe this or F1 or F2.
I think your pc will probably already be set to auto rec.
What you can do first is install the drive in place of your cd, if that is what you want to do.
On the back of the cdrom there should be a small jumper attached (probably slave), all you do is MAKE sure this jumper is in the same place on your dvd (slave) - to match the cd.
Then it should go straight away and recognise the new device in the post and boot as normal.
MAKE SURE THE JUMPER IS NOT THE SAME AS THE HDD IF IT IS ON THE SAME IDE CABLE AS IT WILL PROBABLY HANG.
Now if it boots ok and recognises it, then there is no need to go into the bios.
If however you have 2 ide ports on the mother board (and space in the case) you could have your dvd aswell as the cd (if you have the cable).
You would just need to put the dvd on the other ide and set the jumper to MASTER (on the dvd) (termed secondary master).
Hi Guys
Many thanks for all your great help I think at last I know what I'm doing I will have a go at it tomorrow and let you all know if I get lucky.
Thanks Again
Vernon.
