Hey does anyone know when rewritable dual layer disc wil lbe out?

Iam wondering cuz everytime i burn a dual layer disc theres a chance i might stuff it up so each time i stuff it up it cost me $4+..and i've stuffed up a few disc already :/

Also wondering..should i get the Vertabim TY or just the pure TJ??

My hard-drive cant handle DVD+RW DL..can the Benq1655 do it?

The benq 1655 doesn't do dvd +RW DL. No drives have that capability.

It's a very good drive. It should be able to handle your R dl media.

Here's the specs:

What do you mean by stuff it up? Too much data or coasters?


Now if you're having problems with the +r DL media,then there's other factors:

1) Media quality- Make sure to use quality DL media. Verbatim has the finest DL media out there. Taiyo yuden just started making DL media,but probably won't be available for a while?

Lots of peeps have trouble with the ritek DL.

2) Updated firmware- This DL media being newer,some older drives may need the latest firmware update to handle them.

3) Programs you are using-mainly burn engine. Some have trouble with the layer break- like nero6. DVD Decrypter and IMGburn are very good dual layer burn programs.

4) Too much data-may have to compress it onto your dl media-A program like DVD Shrink should be able to handle it-unless it's newer encryption related.

What are you backing up?

How are you backing up?

What's your burner drives model #-in case you have 2 or more DVD-RW drives?

What's the firmware version on them?

What programs you using for those DL backups?

What's the brand name/format/and speedrate of the DL media you are using?

$4 a piece is way too much. You should be able to get verbatim +R DL for under $2 a piece. Just look for the weekly sales thread.

Edit: I just saw your sig. So I don't know the exchange rate between us and australian currency. Lots of other peeps from australia on here,and may be able to point you to cheaper DL media.
