Problem with 2CD/PSone games

I'm terribly sorry if this topic has already been up, but im in a big hurry so...terribly sorry.

I recently imported chrono cross for PSOne now that I've chipped my PS2, and everything ran on smoothly until the game told me to insert disc 2. When I opened the PS2 to take out disc1 and inserted disc2, the PS2 first was silent, then it began making weird noises, as if it tried to read the CD but there was a problem.

When I later on tried with another 2CD PSOne game, parasite eve (playing the disc1, then as the game tells me, insert disc2), the game simply told me "wrong disc".

What can be wrong? It seems like as soon as I open the PS2 disc-holder the matrix chip stops. What can I do, is it a configuration we're talking about or is it simply something wrong?

Sorry for double-posting, couldn't find any edit-button. Anyway, if no-one undestand what I'm babbling about; I have a european PS2, and since there are so many good games that never came to Europe for the PSOne, I imported them from the U.S.
Meh, I guess you figure...Anyhow, please help me. I spent pretty much a fortune for the chipping of the ps2, chrono cross U.S, and parasite eve U.S, and since those games are so wonderful, it's just a shame not to be able to play them.......Please, anyone, help me.
