HD Loader help, thanks in advance

I got HD loader v.8b (skapps.com)

Winhiip
PS2 SCPH-35001 (GTA Ed.)
80 gig Hard Drive
PS2 Network adapter
IDE to USB (enclosure)
Computer with burner and DVD-rom

no mod, no swap fix
(I think I need to do one of these, while trying to avoid headaches)

and I've done exactly this:

I hooked the HD to the IDE to USB, formatted the Hard Drive into PS2 format using winhiip (I used the default 24 bit option on, couldn't figure out how to get it to 48bit)

Then I put Tekken 4 (DVD) and Time Crisis 2 (CD) on the HD, attached it to the network adapter and put it in my PS2

I burned HD Loader to disc from an ISO I found

when I put the HD Loader in I get the Red Screen and can't go any further



am I missing something?

do I need to load software for my network adapter or my HDD?

If so, where can I find the software? link me to an .iso or something

AND

Do I need to run the PS2 Independance Exploit?


What I am looking to do is run PS2/PS1 (and maybe even a SNES emu) games off the HD, plain and simple,
I just need to know if I have all the tools I need
(I've checked skapps.com and I get lost)

If I'm lucky I might figure out how to

Use HD Loader, etc. to run games and save games to HD
Play Media files as well
and Play SNES/Sega roms from the HD


I appreciate any help I can get, there are way too many forums on this and searching thru all them is a daunting task. Somebody show me the way!

1st problem is that you're trying to boot a burned cd without any kind of modification.
2nd problem is you can't leave the hdd in the usb enclosure to use it with hdloader, you'd have to hook it up to the network adapter.
3rd problem is you won't figure out how to save games to the hdd 'cause you can't (don't know much about media files off the hdd but I'm pretty sure you can't really do that either)
I do think there is a way to use the independance exploit to load the hdloader off of your memory card but, that can get very complicated specially if you don't have some kind of modification (I don't know much about the exploit so I can't advise you on that)

AND

last but not least, you don't have to go through each and every individual forum page to search through them, there's a search button for that which makes things much easier.

(the HD is hooked into the PS2) I need the network adapter startup disk (stupid me) anybody have a backup?

and

is there any way to run games off the Hd without hd loader or swap magic, like a homebrew application?

what good would a backup of the network setup disc be to you since you don't have any modification on your ps2? you shouldn't need the network adapter disc unless you wanna play games online (even then you don't really need it). No, there is no other way you'll need hdloader
