ok i opened my ps2 ( no warrenty)to clean the lens ...so when i was un screwing the top of the dvd drive i hit the silver thing that goes to the cover ...can some one help me on putting it back thanks

I suppose that you are talking about the silver ribbon cable going to the power/eject buttons. You will have to plug this cable back in, the slot is normally below the dvd drive on the motherboard, so you might have to take bottom shell of the ps2 off, to do this you will have to remove the screws holding down the controller port, can you tell me what version ps2 you have, so that i can help you further, the layout is a little bit different on some ps2s.

You just need to lift the drive out, and plug the ribbon cable back in, the socket for the ribbon cable is on the side of the mainboard, if you look beneath the drive, you should be able to the slot in which the ribbon cable should be plugged.

ok so now when i have the top off i have to un screw the controller port to take of the bottom and then find the place to were the ribbon goes

Yes, when you un screw the controller port, you can lift the whole thing out of the bottom shell without having to do anything else, then look at the mainboard underneath the dvd drive side, and you will see the socket in which you plug the reset/eject button into.

that may help you, it is a tutorial for how to install any of the ribbon cables. It will show you most of it but not all as they reserve that for their customers.
But it shows all the way up to the part where you pull out the old cables, so then you can just insert the new one and go in reverse to put it all back together.
