When I turn it on the screen is in black and white and the screen flips vertically. Is there anyway to fix?

So, do you have any more information? As in, did you do something that caused it, or did it just start happening out of no where?

Sorry, I installed a soft-mod my xbox a few months ago it was working fine. I gave it to my brother and 2 days later it started acting up (black and white screen and flipping vertically). I changed the cables and no luck, my next try is going to be installing the soft-mod again. I am not sure if he, my brother, went in the xbox and started clicking programs. Thanks for any help.

*smacks forehead*

Now I remember why that sounds familiar... The black and white in addition to vertical scrolling occurs when a PAL signal is displayed on an NTSC TV. Try finding a TV in your house that can hold the image in a single spot and try to change the video standard back to Default in your dashboard settings.

So it is possible that my brother was screwing around and messed it up or does this thing just happen. Thanks

What you can use is a tool called Enigma Video Switcher, whihc is a bootable xbox disk that can switch the video output of your xbox, read the instructions on it once you aquire it, but Im pretty sre you hold A when you boot it and it will go NTSC, either that or hold B.

Would it work if I just reinstalled the soft mod - using the hot-swap method?

Most likely, he was messing around with the settings and didn't know what he was doing.

You should only use hot swap as a last resort...

What dash are you using?
