Hey guys I picked up an Epson R220 not too long ago and have made a bunch of dvds with it. Now I notice that some of the edges are a bit jagged and was wondering why and how I can fix it, if its possible. Do I need better ink? I saw some TDK photo quality disks and was wondering if they would make a difference. Or is this the printer and something I can going to have to deal with. Are there any other photo quality dvds out there or ones that are glossy instead of the mat finish? Thanks again for your help.

TDK uses a good quality ink on their discs. There are some glossy versions coming to market that will also work quite well. The most interesting new printable is Imation's AquaGuard. It's waterproof--leaving ink-jet printed discs in a bucket of water overnight won't remove any of the ink. Taiyo Yuden is going to offer the same kind of waterproof disc also.

The best inkjet printable cds out right now are the Taiyo Yuden glossy inkjet cd-rs. I believe they call them "Watershield". The print quality on these discs is awesome. A little expensive at $.74 each (http://www.burnsmart.com/ty-52x-iwhub-ws.html), but worth every penny imo.

Imation has AquaGuard printable discs that are also excellent as well as expensive. The discs don't bleed ink even if left completely submerged in a bucket of water for a couple of days. For professional use there are new inks that are UV cured, but for the consumer concerned about the durability of ink-jet printed discs, the Imation and TY discs are the new leaders.
