hi everybody. i am using xp sp2. i need to use ms system recovery (i know, i hate to do it) because i am having trouble with my drives (J,M) and cannot record to them using my dvd copy programs. my question is: 1) can i save my favorites 2) hot mail? 3) save my mail i have put in My Folder (hotmail) 4) can i save my programs to a folder and then place the folder somewhere safely in the system, such as My Documents that will not be lost in the recovery process. i am trying to get around losing any data and having to reinstall all my programs. this is a little lenghty and any! help will be greatly appreciated before i go thru this process. thanks, van

I've never used my email accounts to save any files. However, you can use a backup USB drive, or even online storage facilitys such as XDrive from AOL. Which is now a 5 Gig storage for free.
