Was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on how to repair a disk? Tricks of the trade. I purchased a DVD for my son and he has rewarded me with break dancing on it. It has some serious scratches. I tried to back up but got an error. I did run it through AnyDVD. Was a error suggestion dirty or damaged disk. I tried cleaning it off gently but got the same answer. So I figured I would come to the source, and gather all the knowledge of the AfterDawn forums. So if anyone has any tips or suggestions I would be very thankful. As well as would be my son.

Thanks

If it is dirty, you could gently wash the disc with soap and warm water. Then I would try ripping with DVD Fab Decrypter. This program does a little better with discs that have scratches are such. But in the end, I would not be surprised if the disc has not been ruined by your sons dancing performance.

Thanks. I will give the cleaning another shot. And fire it through DVD Fab.

If they don't work with the AnyDVD ripper they usually don't work with anything else. I've tried a number of different programs and I always get the same result. The Disc is more than likely now waste.

You can use a tool that will remove light scratches:

Works for me.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

most of your video stores will resurface your disk for a small charge most of the times it should be about $3.00 or less, also wallmart or circut city sell some disk repair kits that will work takes a lone time to do this, some are run by hand crank and the high dollor ones run on electricty, and they do a good job, they give you a small quanty of disk cleaning cream, so if you run out you can use any high quailty car wax that is all it is any way
