I was wondering if I stick a extra Hard drive that I have into my PS2, and then burn the HDD Utility Disk Ver. 1.10 disc onto a blank one, use my magic slide can I make the hard drive work on my PS2?

if your talking about the Sony hdd utility disc, it wont load on a non original ps2 hard drive.

If your talking about running games off the hard drive and not making the PS2 realize that it is the official sony hard drive then yes hdloader or advance would do that. If you're trying to use the drive to say run FFXI then don't even bother, you must have the actual sony drive.
