Ok you guys I don't support this lawsuit because it seems people can get sued for anything these days.I thought you guys would want to know this and what effect it may have.So what's this got to do with ps3? Well as most of you know sony got sued by immersion and now we don't have rumble in our controller anymore.
So who copied who after all? Isn't it immersion who has the patent?

Now even I'm confused lol.

its only pathetic if these companies are trying to sue based on a longshot. i mean if this company holds the rights to what they are fighting for (like they claim), then by all means go after companies for infringment. its actually sad when giants like sony, microsoft or even nintendo don't pay the royalties some companies deserve.

I hate crap like this. Thanks to that other lawsuit, we lost the rumble for the dualshock. I hope we don't lose other features in the future. To me that was huge. I love rumble and would take it any day over that wii wemote tilt gimmick ripoff they are trying to compensate with. The dualshock was my favorite controller, even over the 360's but now they cut it's balls off thanks to garbage law suits

you lost rumble not because of Immersion, but because sony was too cheap to pay royalties. instead of paying up, sony tried to fight things in court and lost. so they'll pay immersion a hefty sum, and drop rumble. that is why you "lost rumble"

Oh I heard a lot that they lost their rumble because they have the new motion sensing in it and it may "interfere with the motion sensing". I heard that a lot on TV and magazines but lost of them were from Sony so I guess they did not want to admit that they got sued..

ya but it is still ridiculous at how many law suits and threats and just bs bigshot companies get when they hit it big, over every little thing trying to be sued here and there for ideas. everyone claiming and marking their territory, which i can understand to an extinct but things just get so absurd.

could "rumble" be incorporated into the new ps3 controller with tilt?
Quote: In fact, Immersion CEO and president Victor Viegas, who has been presiding over increasingly militant attempts to get Sony to work with Immersion on rumble/tilt options for the PlayStation 3 controller, commented with regards to Immersion's TouchSense tech: "This... technology can work alongside motion and tilt sensing and provides backward compatibility for existing dual-motor systems, allowing an implementation path at any stage of product lifecycle, even after a console model has launched."
these guys say so, you be the judge. i for one say.........
Quote: The company, which is still in the process of suing Sony over alleged misuse of controller rumble patents, formally announced its TouchSense vibration technology in June, clearly as a counter to Sony's claims that the PlayStation 3 controller will lack a rumble feature - due, they say, to hardware interference caused by its gyroscopic controls announced at E3 2006.

No wonder though. Not only have they sued sony but they are acting like jerks. That's not the type of company I would do business with either. It's sad we don't have the rumble but some of these aggressive marketing big wigs from immersion deserve what they got.
I wonder why sony wasn't implicated in this new case against ms and nintendo.

It's all about money to them. Nothing else matters but money. There has been a lot of law suits going around in the "video game industry" latley.

sadly so. to be honest im not really missing nor caring there won't be any rumble but i bet that was because i just never paid attention that it was happening while i playing a game because i was so into it..so once ps3 comes out and im playing warhawk or some fps i'll probably see the difference.

I will miss the rumble. The rumble was neat. But sometimes distracting and/or annoying. So I had to turn the rumble of in some game because of it. But it's to bad there is no rumble. But I guess the motion sensing is better then the rumble so it is a plus side after all.

Yep there will be no rumble in the Sony?s controller(s). Unless they change it later or some third party companies decide to make a rumble controller but that means the game has to have rumble in it too then so I doubt it.
