ok ok so i made a XLinux cd for the hotswap trick and i wanted till it powered down then bang! tried it and now my had drive has a error 7 (hdd timeout so im told) but this is my question is my xbox as good as dead or can i boot and it and hotswap and get the old dash board or what ever i need back on? since it doesnt load the dashboard or play games now

any help guys plz? i need some i just wana play halo 2 again! lol

If it won't boot games, then I hope you have a copy of your eeprom bin file to use with xboxhdm_1.9!

nope i dont that the prob i used xbox hdmaker and wiped my pc hd and put it in xbox but when it was making the harddrive it went to looking for c files and there on trhe linux cd but it didnt wortk now i have a error 5 (hd is not locked?) is there anyway to get a new eeprom or how i can get this working again

i proper need help lol so far ive wiped 3 hard drives and my pc one so now i have no one for my pc im on my mums now

But..do you have your xbox drive intact?
Read and learn..the xboxhd maker is NOT for softmodding, it's for restoring the box to factory. Why not just go here and learn something about what you are doing before you make a total mess of everything. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/357863

The pc drives..just reinstall whatever operating system you had before.

yea i know its not for modding im trying to pu t it back but no i dont have a hard drive that works now its broke .... but ill read that guide because i might be able to get the hd out of my mates xbox and copy his to mine will that work??
:edit: i dont think i can make that thing so it best to say my xbox is f*%$ed unless i can copy his hardrive

It will if the dash files are compatable with your bios. You will still need the eeprom data from your xbox to lock the drive. The eeprom reader is the only way to get that. You can't take the drive out of your friends box unless it is chipped, because if you unlock it to read it with a pc you will have 2 bricked xboxes instead of one.
Read the tut and then fire away with any questions.
I can tell you where to get dash files and utilities.. PM me if you need directions to them.
